You joined a coding bootcamp because you watched the movie ”Hackers” and you thought It would be cool to be an “Elite Hacker”. Well you’re not the only one.

Dade Murphy did not get super good at what he did overnight. Whatever it was that he did in that amazing movie from the mid 90’s. It takes a lot of work and practice. Like I mentioned in my previous blog. Build good habits, go in with the right mindset, just be happy to be coding. If you hit a wall, don’t get angry and realize that you’re not staring at a wall, but you are a tiny person standing in front of a GIANT STEP, if you step even further back you’ll notice that you are looking at a stairway and every step above it is twice the size of the previous step, so don’t sweat it.

I’ve compiled a list of Resources that will take you to the next level and help you go to the next step on the stairway to knowledge. oh! and some cool extensions for your Text editor, which is where you will be working most of the time…. to Spice up your life, and look cool while coding.

SCRIMBA.

Holy Moly! I could just end my blog here. Scrimba has tons of awesome resources. The beauty of Scrimba is that you can pause course work videos and mess with the code live. This is the best way to practice syntax that you normally tend to forget.

POLACODE.

Polacode is an extension for my favorite text editor VSC. It allows you to take screen caps of your code and saves them for when if you want to share code with someone.

look how pretty that looks.

FIRA CODE.

Fira Code is the font I am using above. It’s super easy to install and you can modify how thicc you want your characters to look. It also makes your arrows look all wonky which i think is super cool and easy on the eyes.

“Fira Code is a free monospaced font containing ligatures for common programming multi-character combinations. This is just a font rendering feature: underlying code remains ASCII-compatible. This helps to read and understand code faster. For some frequent sequences like .. or //, ligatures allow us to correct spacing.” Fira Code Documentation

BEARDED THEME.

Bearded Theme is a super colorful theme I use because I need color in my life.

Bearded Theme

MATERIAL ICONS THEME.

Material Icon Theme is also super colorful and goes well with the Bearded Theme above.

<img src=”https://raw.githubusercontent.com/PKief/vscode-material-icon-theme/master/images/fileIcons.png” />

hmm…that didn’t work…. did you know img tags are self closing lol.

look at all the colors

and finally…

POWERMODE.

Powermode is the cherry on top top. Congratulations, you now don’t have to waste your time since I did it for you….You now have the necessary cosmetic improvements to your Visual Studio Code and on your way to become a 1337 H4X0R! just have fun, man!

ALL POWERFUL NUTELLA!!!!!!!!!
